Where have all the airdrops gone?
Recently, airdrop farmers have been disappointed by less than expected allocations on hot airdrops like Scroll and Grass.
But, despite pessimism in the world of airdrop farming, there are real reasons to be hopeful.
The market is picking up and teams that have been delaying TGE are likely to start dropping tokens
Bullish price action means that new airdrops are less likely to be sold immediately
Tons of great protocols don’t have tokens yet
My team compiled 77 potential airdrops that you can start farming today.
I’m giving this out to new subscribers to this email list and so it only seemed fair to give it out to all of you too.
First, a brief framework for airdrop farming in late 2024…
Types of Airdrops
Airdrop farming strategies can be broadly categorized into 4 buckets: testnets, quests, staking, and protocol usage.
Testnet
There’s a simple reason why many people love testnet airdrops: they’re free
Unfortunately, due to the free nature of testnets and the proliferation of airdrop farming in recent years, many testnets now have hundreds of thousands or even millions of active addresses.
With a few notable exceptions like Sonic, most testnets don’t promise an airdrop for users, so by using them you’re potentially spending a lot of time grinding tasks for no financial benefit.
The place for testnets in your airdrop farming plan is in 1 of 2 scenarios:
You are starting from 0 and want to get some starting capital in crypto (even in this case, it’s likely that your time would be better spent working and then using that money to buy crypto directly)
You’re relaxing and want an easy way to potentially earn some extra crypto while trying out new networks. This is the only time I use them.
Quests
These are just what they sound like. Social and on-chain tasks given to you by a protocol.
Rewards for these often involve Discord badges, commemorative NFTs, or “points”.
These are usually free (or require a nominal amount of capital), but I’m much more positive on them than I am on testnets.
The reasons why I prefer quests to testnets are straightforward. First, protocols doing quests are being much more upfront about their desire to reward participants. Second, quests are often intended to not only reward users but to also educate them about a protocol–tasks will walk participants through using a protocol and consuming content about it. If I was new to crypto and wanted to know here to start, quests would be a good place to do so.
Staking
This involves staking one token in the hopes of getting an airdrop from another token in its ecosystem.
Historically, these were most common in the Cosmos ecosystem, with stakers of ATOM, OSMO, TIA and other Cosmos chains receiving substantial airdrops.
Popular coins to stake for airdrops in the current year are those with large ecosystems, like TIA, DYM, and PYTH.
While there’s still potential for this method, protocols have generally become more selective with how they distribute airdrops to stakers, since many people are splitting their stake across 5, 10, or even 100+ wallets.
Protocol usage
These are the airdrops that actually have the potential to be worth a lot (well, some of them anyways).
The way to think about protocol usage airdrops is as a form of liquidity mining. Rather than receiving your liquidity mining incentives continuously, you receive them later, either all at once or at the end of discrete “epochs”.
But which protocols might give out airdrops and how do you know which ones are worth farming?
The simplest way to find protocols with potential airdrops is to look at tokenless protocols. DefiLlama keeps a great list of these on their airdrops dashboard.
But even within this list, there are over 1,500 tokenless protocols. How do you know which ones are likely to be worth farming?
Generally, I look for 3 things in protocols that are good candidates for airdrop farming:
No token. If there’s already a token, the chance of a future airdrop is way lower. Rare exceptions apply as with all rules.
Few wallets. Remember Jito? Even small traders that had deposited $100 received 5-figure airdrops. The reason why was that only around 10K wallets were actually using it, despite it being one of the largest DeFi apps on Solana.
High fee generation or potential. The most valuable airdrops have been for protocols that generate a lot of fees. If a protocol doesn’t generate fees, it’s unlikely to have a high market cap and if it doesn’t have a high market cap, the airdrop is unlikely to be worth much. If it doesn’t generate fees now, it can still be worth farming if it grows substantially in the future. Some people started farming Jito last summer. As Jito and the Solana network grew, Jito grew with it, and those people had already gotten a head start in collecting points towards Jito’s drop.
Where to Look for Airdrops
Two good places to look for lucrative airdrops are (1) growing chains, and (2) killer apps.
Solana produced a string of valuable airdrops this year and last precisely because it was growing exponentially. Before this, Arbitrum’s airdrop was lucrative precisely because it was a widely used chain whose airdrop came after a year of continuous growth. A few chains I’d look at today for airdrops would be Base, Sui, and Stacks.
Uniswap’s app was famously valuable and widely distributed. That’s because Uniswap was THE crypto application of 2020 and one of the most important dApps of all time. The main issue with purposeful farming of killer apps is that, if they’re already finding traction on their own, they have little reason to issue a token. Fortunately, these apps are often a joy to anyways (pump dot fun and Polymarket come to mind), so if you’re active in crypto, you’re likely to come across them in some way.
77 Potential Airdrops for 2025
To help you on your airdrop farming journey, I compiled a list of 77 potential airdrops.
This resource includes compiled information about each airdrop:
Protocol name
Protocol Twitter link
Category (Testnet/Quests/Protocol Usage)
Airdrop guide (links to external guides about each airdrop)
Tasks to farm this airdrop
Cost (Free/Capital Required)
Chain
The idea is to give you what you need to find airdrops that fit your goals and conviction and then start farming them.
